McAfee Security Scan Plus

Your PC could be infected and you may not know anything about it. To make sure your PC isn’t infected, you can scan it with McAfee’s free security diagnostic tool, the aptly named McAfee Security Scan Plus. This free security tool will quickly scan your PC for threats and will check your PC’s protection status. McAfee Security Scan Plus will check your computer for up-to-date antivirus, firewall, and web security software; it will also scan for threats in any open program.

The system requirements for running McAfee Security Scan Plus are: 256MB of RAM or more; at least 20MB of free disk space; internet connection.
McAfee Security Scan Plus supports Windows XP SP2/SP3, Vista SP1/SP2, Windows 7, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
McAfee Security Scan Plus supports Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s Firefox, and Google’s Chrome web browsers.

Three buttons are presented in the upper right hand corner of the application’s interface:
Home – from here you can initiate a scan and view the scan results. The scan will take less than 2 minutes to complete. The results of the scan are grouped into the following categories: virus and spyware protection, firewall protection, McAfee web protection, threats detection.
Settings – from here you can set it so your PC is scanned according to a schedule. You can also set it to “automatically update my software during my scheduled scan” and “automatically send my suspicious files to McAfee.”
Help – from here you can access the help documentation.

McAfee Security Scan Plus checks to see if your PC has virus, spyware, and firewall protection. It also checks to see if you’re safe while surfing the web – by installing McAfee SiteAdvisor you know if visiting a site may harm your computer. And last but not least, it checks for other threats to your PC. Click the “Fix Now” button from the lower right hand corner of the application’s interface and your default browser will launch and take you to a website that invites you to get McAfee Total Protection.
